Is the second biggest province of Angola after Moxico, and it is less populated. It covers 199,049 km2 and has 9 districts: Cuchi, Menongue, Cuangar, Nankova, Cuito Cuanavale, Mavinga, Calai, Dirico and Rivungo and its capital is Menongue located at the margins of river Kuebe.
Kuando Kubango shares international borders with Namibia and Zâmbia.
But, in spite of the privileges mentioned above, Kuando Kubango is one of the least developed provinces because it was affected by war significantly. The big battles such as Mavinga and Kuito Kuanavale were held here.
Its population is composed of the following ethnic groups: the Nganguelas divided into N'Yembas and M'Buelas, the Mucussos and Kuagares.
The population rely on agriculture, apiculture, handicraft, fishing and cattle breeding. It is rich in mineral resources such as diamond, gold and copper.
It is a tourist region. The weather is tropical and annual average temperature is around 20ºC.
