Covering 24.110 km2, it comprises of 13 districts: Cazengo, Lucala, Ambaca, Golungo Alto, Quiculungo, Bolongongo, Banga, Samba Cajú, Ngonguembo, Cambambe and the capital is N'Dalatando.

It is separated from Kwanza Sul province by the Kwanza River and it is ideal alternative for tourism such as the Dam of Cambambe.

The weather is tropical humid with an average of annual temperature of 23ºC. The population is basically from Ambundu origin and the widely spoken language is Kimbundu and their main activity being agriculture producing cotton and coffee.

In the district of Cambambe, there is an industry pole for clothing and drink. The second biggest hydroelectric Dam is found in Cambambe, from which the provinces in the north part, get electricity.

The province is rich in copper, iron, manganese and diamond. The former Oliveira Salazar town is today called N'Dalatando. It is a small town placed at the top of Mpinda Mountain.

The province was well known for its Great production of sturdy coffee together with Kwanza Sul and Uige. With peace, the aim is to continue producing more coffee, cotton and other seeds. Ecotourism is also possible.

By visiting the forest reserves of Caculama and Golungo Alto as well as the river Muembeje without forgetting to visit the Tomb of the Queen N'Ginga at the Massangano fortress.
