Covering 33,016 km2, is located in the north coast of Angola, Bengo is close to Luanda and is bordered by Zaire, Uige, Kwanza Norte and Kwanza Sul provinces.

The province has five districts: Ambriz, Icolo- Bengo, Muxima, Nambuangongo and Dande. It is a new province, it became a province later in 1980 and Caxito it is the capital.

It has a dry tropical weather with an average temperature of around 26ºC. Did you Know that: Muxima means heart in kimbundu language? The population is basically from Ambundu origin.

Their main activity is agriculture and fishing. Luanda gets most of the vegetables from Bengo province and the shopping tours are frequented to Funda location.

Those who are fond of fishing usually go there. Preferably, they buy Cacusso or tilapia, fish from fresh water is tasteful when grilled and some other sea food, like lobsters.

The most used language is Kimbundu. Despite the absence of Administrative structures at the provincial level, it has a big industrial pole Bom Jesus – which is growing very fast with important industries at national level.

It is a rich area for tourism and its variety "to satisfy both side of a situation": it has park, forest reserve, different rivers (Kwanza, Bengo, Dande, Longa and Onzo) which cross the province; beautiful beaches, lakes, ruins of the colonization era... if you are thinking to visit this area, do not forget to bring a camera with you, because you will need it!

Its closeness to Luanda will be an advantage for tourists, even if it is only for a weekend. Diving in Sangano and Cabo Ledo beaches, tour to Quissama Park or to Kwanza River are reasonable causes to explore the beauty of the area.

There are also beaches such as Pambala and Santiago which are not explored adequately.
