If you are in Luanda, you can go to Bengo by road.
There are three small airports in Ambriz, Bridge of Dande or Port of Kipiri. WALKING Our Lady of Muxima church – it was built between 1641 and 1648 after the transfer of the image from our Lady of Muxima by the Dutch to the place. Located in a place with the same name about 130km from the capital Luanda, it is considered as national monument since 1924.
In the church, there is the sanctuary of Our Lady of Muxima and every year millions of pilgrims make their pilgrimage during the Feast of Our Lady of Muxima which is celebrated in September.
The Fortress of Muxima – built on the top of the mountain at the left side of the Kwanza River in 1599 by the Portuguese troops, it has served as protective shield from the Dutch troops and also as commercial point for merchandise and waiting place for slaves to be transported to the American continent.
It was declared national monument in 1924. National Kissama Park – with an extension of 990,000 hectares, this national park was at the beginning a reserved hunting zone and it is one of biggest park in Africa. The long period of war had a negative impact on the fauna. The operation of Noah's ark, was setup aiming at repopulating the park with elephants, pacaças, red antelopes (palancas vermelhas), and large variety of exotic birds.
There are bungalows to accommodate the visitors. Kibinda Forest reserve – with 100 km2 it is a humid forest with fog and its vegetation comprises of coffee forest, savannah mosaic from Zambezi and others, within an area of 100 Km2.
In the North, there is a road from Nova Caipemba to Kitexe, in the south, the road to Kitexe, in the east the Loge River and in the west, Vamba River. Kibaxi-Piri / Bengo Forest Reserve: Covering 200 Km2, it is located between 14`30 meridians and 8`35 parallel. There is Loma River in the North-East and Ucua River in the southwest. It has humid forest with fog, poliestrata, guineense zembeziaca, mesoplastic: Celtis, Albiza, Morus, Ficus, etc.
Some ruins to be mentioned in Bengo: Fostuir of Kissama, lighthouse do Cal de Bom Jesus, Ruíns of old residence of the Administor of Bom Jesus location, the old church of Jesuíts of bridge of Dande and Archaeologic site of Ambriz.
