Covers 58.698 km2 with 16 districts : Alto Cauale, Ambuíla, Bembe, Buengas, Bungo, Damba, Kimbele, Kiteche, Macocola, Maquela do Zombo, Mucaba, Negage, Puri, Sanza Pombo, Songo and Uíge.
The capital of the province is Uige, the weather is tropical humid with annual average temperature around 24ºC. The population is basically from Bakongo ethnic group but there are also some Kimbundu and Ovimbundu ethnic groups and the most spoken language is Kikongo.
They rely on agriculture and not long time back, Uige was considered as the capital of coffee, being capable of expor-ting 400,000 tons of coffee every year.
Investments are being made to recover the production, including timber from the dense forests, which covers a big part of the region. The province is crossed by 5 rivers - Zadi, Dange, Lúria, Lucala and Luvulu.
