Covers 40.130 km2, with 6 districts: M'Banza Congo, Cuimba, Noqui, Nzeto, Soyo e Tomboco and an international border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The capital is M'Banza Kongo which was the former capital of the Congo Kingdom. The weather is tropical humid with the annual average temperature around 26ºC.
The rainy season is from November to May and the dry season runs from June to October. The majority of the population is from Bakongo origin and the most spoken language is Kikongo.
The most important oil companies in Angola are situated in Soyo which employs the majority of the working class.
